Launch of BETA RampantSpider.com

We are pleased to present the BETA launch of RampantSpider.com.

A new search engine and way to find adult movies on popular tube sites.

Our first blog will explore the features and ambitions of the site going forward.

Adult Search Engine vs Tube Search Organizer

We like to think we're the latter, the term 'adult search engine' is probably what you've all heard before. Type some words, get some results, see if they're relevant and move on. An 'organizer' on the other hand, presents a more useful search experience and understands that finding the vids you want and organizing them presents it's own set of challenges. Firstly lets explore the features of RampantSpider in more detail to understand this.

Multi-faceted Search Filtration

Sounds a bit tecky but something you'd be used to when using ecommerce sites. It simply means you can choose a 'combination of options' in order to find what you want. Now, for a site which controls the content - such as an online store, it can be done with great accuracy since the data (i.e. products) can be tagged with the appropriate words.

For porn videos, it's a completely different beast. Since many are uploaded by people around the world, you can imagine the tagging is inconsistant and use of 'slang' language differs wildly. Also a tag is just a word, it doesn't belong to a group like attributes do in ecommerce. Consider searching for a jumper within a store and then you want it in blue. This is the attribute 'blue' assigned to the group 'color'. The word 'blue' now has context, we understand it to mean a color.

So without going into too much detail, breaking down the structure of a porn video in order to identify the groups needed was the first challenge. Second challenge was to categorize all the various tags, titles, categories into these groups.

Now we have a system that allows you to do something like this:

"I want Asian girls, wearing suspenders, with pigtails giving a blowjob" or "I want milfs with blue eyes located in the bedroom". Possibilities are endless. Whatever tickles you!

Beta caveat - you will get some non-relevant results mixed in amongst the relevant ones and sometimes very few results with certain combinations. This is down to tagging data - some vids are tagged with words which are completely irrelevant (annoyingly) and some vids just don't have the info available - an example of this is eye color, we all have eye colors but unless the video is tagged with it, it can't be filtered on. Rest assure, we are working on something to help get more data into the vids - this is a challenge so please bear with us!.

Problem with keyword search is you get results all 'merged' together unless there is an exact match or you are clever with your word inclusion/exclusion but then you need to type your phrase out, check the results, refine, go again etc and there has to be a better way.. There is, and that's what multi-faceted search is, a combination of keyword search functionality and filtration on multiple elements. You don't even need to keyword search, just start with everything on the homepage and filter from there.

Give it a try, it's quite a fun feature and there's stuff in there you may never have heard of which is always interesting.

Saving Favorites in Folders

Sounds simple but you'll be suprised at how user functions such as favorites are left lacking. You want to save lots of vids, you need a way of organizing them how you want. RampantSpider.com will store all your fave vids in your own defined folders.

Saving Searches & Quick Search

Another simple but powerful feature is the search saving. Once you've invested time in finding that particular you've been longing for, save how you found it. Then, in future, you can just click a link to conduct the same search, checking for new vids that may have arrives.

The Quick Search feature simply allows you to pick 8 of your saved searches so they are available in a quick access menu in the header making repeat visits a breeze.

Mark as Viewed

One of the most interesting features is the ability to 'Mark as Viewed'. This simple one click on/off action allows you to record all the vids you have watched before.

Why is this useful? Well, you can now exclude them from search results if you wish so you don't have to trawl through stuff you've seen before.

So there's a summary of features we hope prove useful and we have plenty more where that came from. Your support/feedback/comments are most welcome as we really want to make it as useful as it can be. This includes the advertising we'll use to support the site. We've chosen not to take up all the space that can otherwise be used for user-features but opted for a text ad which is relevant and screened prior to adding

All that's left to say is enjoy the site and please feedback bugs, thoughts, ideas as much as you want. We'll listen.
